September / October 2009

And... it's almost November. Really? Really? Apparently so.

Fall is in full swing in Eastern Europe. Leaves of every imaginable hue are everywhere to be found; some clinging to almost bare branches, while others have succumbed to the fact that Autumn is upon. Those ones are strewn across quickly-freezing European soil. It's dark by 5:00 and the air is definitely started to develop a certain chill that seems to say, "This is nothing - Winter is close behind." As for me, I can only sigh and get ready to hunker down in front of stacks of yet-to-be-read books. That, and hope that the Cleveland Browns win more than one game during the 2009 NFL season.



For the Foster family, we're doing well. The children are just plain doing great at school. Kara has yet to miss a problem in math, Ian continues his pace of being set to graduate college by 14 years old, Leah is enjoying everyday of school (especially with her great friend, Judah), and Mikayla is really doing well with her ABC's and 1,2... oh, right... 1,2,3's. Pardon me if I appear to be boasting. I probably am. Oh, I almost forgot: Ian is now a yellow belt in Karate.


As I type this, most of our college students are away from the campus for our "10-Day Outreaches." Moldova, Finland, and Romania are just a few of the places where they're seeking to share the love and grace of Jesus with people that need Him. Please pray for them! They return this upcoming weekend (October 31/November 1).

With December on the horizon, we are all very excited as a family to visit our family in New Jersey and our church family there, too. Christi and the kids haven't seen her family since December 2006, so this will be a great chance to catch up. Of course, Christmas means that the new year is also on the horizon. Hard to believe that 2010 is just around the corner; especially in light of the fact that we moved back to Europe in 2004.

For those of you that are concerned with those last two paragraphs, don't worry: I did not forget about the month of November. It just all seems to race by these days.

So, September was great and October was as well. We've had some great times as a family (Exhibit A: a trip to Legoland, Germany with our friend Rachel) and some great times with our new students (Exhibit B: corn picking at a farm in the next village over for a sweet lady that comes to our Thursday evening Bible study).

Please continue to pray for us as a family; for God's direction, wisdom, direction, provision, direction, and general blessing. Please also pray for our students as they still have several more weeks of school left!
