APRIL 2008

And another one's gone (repeat) and another one bites the dust. Is it alright to quote the band, Queen, in a missionary update? Well, I guess it is too late. If you're wondering about the reference and the point thereof, Leah's tooth bit the proverbial dust as did the month of April. How is she already losing teeth? Where did April go? You got it... another one's gone, etc, etc. Anyhow...

April was a pretty great month for us out here. Mikayla turned three (3!!!!!!), we had a great time here during CCBCE's Outreach Week. Some of the students stayed here in Vajta and reached out to the people in our town. I was able to join them for a couple of the outings and was able to really clearly share the gospel to a handful of people in town - both young and old.

We also had a chance to spend some time with Frank (dad) and Gerri ("new mom") in Austria this month as well. Of course, if you read our last blog, you already knew that and so I am now just insulting your intelligence. My apologies if that is the case. We had a nice time with them and Robert & Diane Wojcik in Austria and in Venice, Italy.

Right now, we really only have a few weeks left in the semester (and another one of those is gone as well). It has been a great joy this semester to spend time with the students both in the classroom and out of it. We have some AMAZING students this year and we're going to be sad to see them go. Excited to see them live their lives for Jesus, but we'll miss them all at the same time. Please keep us and them in your prayers as we (all) seek to finish out the semester as strongly as possible.

In other news, it would appear that our little puppy Daisy is going to have puppies of her own. Insert a "sigh" at this point of the update. Leah couldn't be happier, so I guess that is a good thing.

We are still praying for God's will, direction, and provision for a vehicle. We are simply waiting to see what He would like to do with that. Feel free to join us in praying for this!

ALSO, we are nearing what seems to be decision time for the future of little Jurica. If you're new to this part of our journey, Jurica is a little Croatian boy that lost his father in a car crash this time last year. The same crash gave his mother severe brain damage and she is unable to care for her little boy. He is now with family on the other side of Croatia and we hope to hear in the near future if adoption is a possibility, and if so, if it is a possibility for us. As of today (April 28), we have some documents that need to be translated and submitted before we'll have a good idea about where all of this is at. PLEASE PRAY FOR US AND FOR THIS LITTLE BOY. We pray for the will of the Lord to be done in his life and that he'll be drawn unto Jesus.

MARCH 2008

Dancin' with the Stars... er... uh, the dog

April has arrived, and with it - well, not much new. The weather has been great over here the last few days, classes are still going well, and all in all (surprise, surprise) God is still good.

We were able to enjoy a great time with Calvary Chapel Kaposvar, Hungary the last Saturday in March as they celebrated the 10 year anniversary of the church. Christi and I were able to go with worship team from the Bible College and play some music for the event. I haven't traveled with the drums for a while now, so that was a great time.

In the midst of all of the recent sunny weather, we were greeted a few weeks ago to a nice, full snow fall. Happily, it melted off in a few hours.

I had a tooth pulled last week, and that was pretty exciting. I felt bad for the dentist because she was really working hard to get that thing out. She worked up a sweat and her assistant had to open up the window in the office. The really exciting part was that part of one of the roots broke off and she had to (first) find it, and then dig it out. It (the hole in my mouth - not the tooth because... yeah, it's gone) feels fine, but the stitches are another story. I get those out next week.

Ian will be visiting an ear and throat specialist next week as well - he continues to have problems with his ears and we want to get that figured out. He mostly just has ear infections, but they are too often for our likings. Another doctor recommended that we go to the specialist, so we're happy to take his advice on that.

This week, we will be driving to Austria to visit Christi's folks. Frank is teaching a week in Austria, but they won't be able to make it out here this time around. It will be a good break for us and the kids for sure. Many thanks to our friends Jason and Angie VanderBurgh who are loaning us their car for the drive! We are still "car-less" (not to be confused with "care-less") and so that is a HUGE blessing for us.

The students will be off on their 10-day outreaches at the beginning of April, so please feel free to pray for them. They'll be going to (among other places), Romania, Ukraine, Croatia, and Israel.

Please also pray for our friends, Frank & Linda LaRosa. Linda has a heart problem that the doctors are still figuring out and has been in the hospital for a week or two now. Pray for healing for her and strength for Frank.

Praise God for what He has in mind in Salzburg! A family from Washington state, the Ibbotson's, have sold their house and will be moving there in July to seek to plant a Bible-teaching church. Praise God for His faithfulness to hear our prayers! Thanks all of you that have faithfully prayed for that city over the years! Keep praying for them!
